shopping barefoot

Whether shopping for clothes, groceries, or something else, going barefoot is safe and makes the experience more enjoyable.

The floors of department stores, grocers and many other places can add a lot to the shopping experience. Have you ever noticed the different textures of the floors in your favorite retailers? Some floors are tile, others are wood. Certain areas are carpeted, others not. In grocery stores, some areas are warmer or cooler underfoot than others. Feeling the floor as you're shopping adds another dimension to the experience and can be quite enjoyable!

So let's talk about safety: Shopping barefoot is safe for barefoot patrons. On the whole, retailers keep their floors remarkably clean and very safe. If glass breaks, staff do a good job of quickly cleaning up anything dangerous. Any miniscule remnants are not going to do significant harm to bare feet. If you break a glass at home and then clean it up, this doesn't mean you should never again take off your shoes at home, and it's really no different in a shop or restaurant. Could someone stub a toe on the edge of something? Sure, but they could also roll over their toes with a cart wheel while wearing flip flops or trip while wearing high heels.

Give barefoot shopping a try. You will find that it makes the experience more fun and relaxing -- and it's safe!
